HONORING HEATH ON THURSDAY

The rescheduled date for our Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup match against Moonee Ponds Cricket Club is Thursday, February 29 - playing on the turf at Ormond Park.
The initial date in January was washed out.
The Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup, first played in 2020/21, is an annual event between Moonee Valley and Moonee Ponds to highlight men's health issues.
Heath Webb-JohnsonIt is a perpetual reminder of two loved and respected players and mates no longer with us - Heath Webb-Johnson of Moonee Valley (leftand Gary Pascu of Aberfeldie Park  (since renamed as Moonee Ponds). The Webb-Johnson/Pascu Cup Up to now we have contested the Cup each time we met in the regular season, but as Moonee Valley is now in a higher grade we have agreed to play off-fixture on a training night.
As the current holder of the Cup we will be hosting the game at Ormond Park. It will be a short-form game starting at 6pm - playing 16 overs a side.
Both clubs had been hit hard by the loss of much-loved members to men's health issues in recent seasons, and determined to stand up and be counted. The inscription on the cup says everything - "their passion and legacy transcends cricket and will be forever celebrated"
We encourage players and supporters from both clubs to come and support the game and our commitment to men's health.

CRAWDAD

CUP NIGHT

An enthusiastic crowd got into the swing of things when we staged our Yabby Races event at the Ormond Park clubrooms on February 24.
The "track" was marked in a circle under a marquee on the grass in front of the pavilion, and the punters showed great excitement as each event got under way.

Bookmaker Steve Hazelwood from "Haze Bet", ably assisted by penciller Luke Brock, shouted the odds and had no shortage of takers.
Thanks to Tain Piercy for locating and delivering the yabbies, and master wrangler and Clerk of the Course Nick Brelis for his expert handling of the temperamental "thoroughbreds" - most of which ended in the pot at the end of the night.

The driving force behind the organisation of the night was Jack Newman and the regular players from the Firsts, so we thank them for this excellent fundraiser.

OUR LADIES DAY 2024 - A BIG EVENT

Moonee Valley turned on the charm for our Ladies Day 2024 event - a fine meal catered by the Moonee Ponds Club, a selection of fine drinks and plenty of entertainment for the people who deserve recognition for their role in helping make our club great.

The February 3 guests were given an inspirational speech by current Richmond AFLW vice-captain Gabby Seymour, who was a national level volleyball player before turning to football.
More than three dozen raffle prizes were up for grabs - all donated.
Many thanks to MVCC committee member and First Eleven captain Jack Newman for his drive in making our annual Ladies Day a success.

THANKS TO OUR VALLEY SPONSORS

One of our key sponsors - Nelson Alexander Real Estate partner Sam Carbone (left) with First Eleven player Chand Shrestha.A good crowd of sponsors, Life Members and other members and supporters enjoyed an excellent barbecue and a well-stocked bar and were entertained by watching Day 2 of our First Eleven clash with Melton South.

Moonee Valley had already secured first innings points and Day 1, and our guests saw a tight battle as Melton South dug in and ultimately avoided getting rolled outright.
Many thanks to our Sponsorship Manager Domenic Gibaldi for his work in organising the day and acting as an excellent host for our sponsors and other guests.
